This continuing education (CE) course explores performance-based identity, a growing concern among youth who tie their self-worth to their achievements in academics, sports, or other external validations. The course will examine how this mindset develops, how it manifests into adulthood, and the impact on mental health. Additionally, it will provide strategies for therapists to help clients build a more intrinsic sense of self-worth and offer guidance for parents on fostering a healthier identity in their children.
By the end of this workshop:
Therapists will define performance-based identity and explore its psychological and social influences.
Therapists will identify how performance-based identity manifests in youth and its long-term effects into adulthood.
Therapists will examine the role of parental influence in shaping performance-based identity and discuss therapeutic techniques to help clients develop a more stable, internalized sense of identity.
This course has been approved for 3 Core CE Hours through LPCGA.
Details of access to be emailed after order is confirmed.
