Accepting New Clients!

Allison is a compassionate counselor with a trauma-informed, Reality Choice–centered approach to empower her clients. She believes that while we cannot change our past experiences, we hold the power to choose our reality in the here and now. Her work is founded on the understanding that all behavior is an attempt to meet our core human needs and commonly incorporates aspects of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) into her approach to meet each individual client where they currently are on their journey.

Her counseling sessions provide a safe and non-judgmental space to explore your unique story. While her focus is on empowering you to take control of your present and future, she does so with a deep understanding of how past trauma can profoundly impact your current thoughts, feelings, and choices. Allison acts as a guide, helping you identify the origins of your challenges and then empowering you to make new, more effective choices that lead to healing and personal growth.

Allison works with children (ages 3+), teens, and adults, providing compassionate individual counseling for a wide range of concerns, including:

  • Repetitive, fear-based thoughts that result in anxiety, panic attacks, and intrusive thoughts
  • Overwhelming emotions that cause mood swings and/or depression
  • Relationship counseling for family conflict and overcoming codependency
  • Trauma symptoms from physical, emotional, verbal, and sexual abuse
  • Building self-esteem and learning to set healthy boundaries
  • Support for those feeling stuck, unfulfilled, or navigating difficult life transitions
  • Child play therapy and teen counseling to improve emotional regulation
  • Reunification Therapy for high-conflict families

Allison is currently a graduate student at Liberty University, pursuing her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from the University of Phoenix. Outside of her professional work, Allison enjoys making positive choices for her own wellness through restorative practices like yoga, meditation, and hiking. She also loves spending time with her three children, partner, and future stepdaughter, and finds joy in dancing, traveling, and spending time with friends.

A Few Words From Allison:

Hi, my name is Allison, and I am so excited that you are here. Simply taking the time to search for a counselor marks a huge step in the journey towards healing and demonstrates commitment and willingness to prioritize self-growth and well-being. It is my privilege to walk with you through your journey, whether you are facing challenges, seeking self-discovery, seeking to improve upon interpersonal relationships, or looking for help with goal setting and attainment.

Throughout our lives, our identity is built upon stories that we tell ourselves based on our perception of the world around us. That could include societal influences as well as labels that others have placed upon us. This identity that we develop can facilitate growth or hinder it. Throughout our journey together, it is my hope that we work collaboratively to re-author your story in a way that aligns with your authentic self while developing upon your many strengths and disconnecting from unhealthy thought patterns. Everyone’s journey is unique to themselves, and it is my goal to meet each client where they currently are at each step of the way while creating a safe and comfortable environment where clients feel free to demonstrate authentic self-expression.

“Mental health problems don’t define who you are. They are something that you experience. You walk in the rain, and you feel the rain, but you are not the rain.”
