Why You Should Work with a Therapy Intern

Clinical interns (or masters-level clinicians) are a great resource for those seeking therapy who cannot afford the typical high cost of therapy sessions. Interns offer lower rates with the same amount of dedicated care you would expect from a therapist.

Additionally, interns are under supervision, which means a licensed professional counselor (LPC) is consulting with the intern on every client they have. Basically, you will have two therapists! Two people with different perspectives collaborate every week to make your therapy experience more valuable and tailored to your needs.

Another thing about clinical interns is that they are up to date on the latest research, meaning they are well-equipped to discover what theories and therapeutic techniques will work best with clients. Interns are dedicated to forming a unique treatment plan for each client using modern research.

Lastly, clinical interns are growing and learning right alongside the client. The intern is in a growing period of their career, and most clients are also looking to grow through therapy. It is a meaningful venture that allows both the client and the therapist to connect and grow together. The intern can learn just as much from the client as the client can from the intern.

Personally, I plan to provide a nonjudgemental space where clients can express themselves and talk about whatever they need. I am passionate about supporting populations who may feel misunderstood, including the queer community and anyone who is neurodivergent. I also love making the therapy space fun! I love music, I can talk about animals all day long, and I enjoy playing board games!

Therapy can be hard, and we may talk about heavy things, but I believe bringing joy to therapy is just as important as talking about difficult things.

If you are looking for a nonjudgmental space where we can talk, grow, and laugh together, I am the intern for you!
